About ZeroTrash

ZeroTrash is a community clean-up project dedicated to ridding city streets of trash, supporting local business and fostering personal responsibility for the environment.

It all started with ZeroTrash Laguna on October 6, 2007 when Laguna Beach resident, Chip McDermott, got sick of seeing trash all over the streets and decided to do something about it. He rallied together local residents and business owners to create what is now called our 1st Saturday program.  Today, ZeroTrash is a registered trademark and a 501(c)3 non-profit with over 600 members. We have rid the streets of over 15,000 lbs of trash & recyclables.

ZeroTrash Newport (ZTN) is our second chapter and an exciting step in our growth. Our inaugural 1st Saturday kicked off at Avila’s El Ranchito on October 5, 2009. We are working alongside organizations like Surfrider NB and Miocean to bring Newport residents together in taking back our streets from trash & protecting our waterways.
